Senior Network Engineer

SummaryThe Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, maintenance, and support of enterprise network infrastructure and related services. This role ensures the availability, performance, and security of network systems including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN technologies, wireless infrastructure, voice platforms, and critical business applications.The engineer provides technical leadership in evaluating, designing, implementing, and optimizing network solutions while maintaining service levels and operational continuity. This position also develops and enhances network standards, procedures, and methodologies to support business objectives and evolving technology requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure utilizing Cisco networking technologies.Configure and support routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.Manage advanced IP networking technologies including VLANs, VPNs, load balancing, access control lists (ACLs), wireless networks, and firewalls.Install, configure, and support network management and monitoring platforms.Implement and support IP-based video and collaboration technologies.Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements and strategic initiatives.Develop technical documentation, implementation plans, standards, and operational procedures.Participate in projects related to network expansion, modernization, migration, and optimization.Troubleshoot and resolve complex network performance, connectivity, and infrastructure issues.Collaborate with infrastructure, security, systems, and application teams to support business objectives.Create and communicate project status updates and technical reports.Ensure adherence to organizational security, compliance, and operational standards.Research and assess new hardware, software, and networking technologies.Minimum QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.ExperienceFive (5)+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise TCP/IP network environments.Hands-on experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies.Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Cisco ACI environments, including Multi-Site Architecture (MSO) deployments.Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 network technologies, including VLAN design, SVI configuration, and migration efforts.Experience administering enterprise VPN solutions, including F5 APM.Experience deploying and managing Palo Alto Networks firewalls.Experience supporting data center networking environments.Experience troubleshooting complex network and infrastructure issues in enterprise environments.Certifications (Preferred)Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)Palo Alto certifications and other industry-recognized networking certifications are highly desirable.Required Skills & Technical ExpertiseNetworkingExpert knowledge of enterprise switching technologies, Spanning Tree, VLANs, trunking, and advanced routing concepts.Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and enterprise architecture.Expertise with routing protocols including BGP, EIGRP, and OSPF.Experience with network segmentation, redundancy, high availability, and disaster recovery concepts.SecurityExperience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, including GlobalProtect and large-scale enterprise deployments.Strong understanding of VPN technologies, access controls, and network security best practices.Familiarity with security monitoring, logging, and compliance requirements.Cisco TechnologiesCisco ACI and Multi-Site Orchestrator (MSO)Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching platformsCisco DNA CenterCisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)Cisco 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers and wireless infrastructureVoice & CollaborationExperience supporting Cisco Unified Communications environments, including:CUCMUCCXFinesseSupporting voice infrastructure technologiesOperations & CommunicationAbility to analyze and solve complex technical problems.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to create technical documentation, procedures, and operational standards.Experience presenting technical recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Preferred ExperienceEnterprise data center networking.Network automation and infrastructure-as-code concepts.Load balancing platforms.Cloud networking and hybrid infrastructure environments.Large-scale enterprise network modernization initiatives.Work EnvironmentThis position primarily operates in an office and data center environment.
