Lead Sterile Processing Tech – Sterile Processing Department (Evenings) Hourly Pay Range: $21.08 - $31.62 per hour. Pay rate reflects experience and expertise. Position Highlights Location: Arlington Heights, IL Shift: 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm (rotating weekends and holidays required) Full time Bonus: $5,000 Sector: Sterile Processing Department What You Will Do Assist in running the department when the supervisor is unavailable. Inform management of items and supplies needed; locate instrumentation and adjust workflow to meet OR demand. Oversee daily departmental needs and provide sterile‑processed materials and equipment to hospital and affiliated facilities. Execute established procedures for decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and surgical case cart set‑up, ensuring quality patient care. Follow procedures to ensure decontamination completion and place sterile items in appropriate areas, accurately labeled by department. Act as liaison between Sterile Processing and Surgical Services, resolving issues and communicating priorities. Mentor and train new technicians and provide continuous training as processes evolve. Maintain documentation of sterilization records, validate records daily, and ensure infection‑control practices are met. Submit department productivity figures and participate in continuous quality‑improvement initiatives. Monitor par‑levels of supplies, communicate shortages, and support instrument inventory management. Coordinate instrument count sheets, standard instrument repair, and maintenance. Assist with transportation of trays between locations when required. Ensure continuity of workflow during shift transitions; attend staff meetings and educational seminars as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. What You Will Need High school diploma or GED. Two years’ experience in healthcare sterile processing or surgical/procedural area. Two years’ experience as a lead or in staff education. Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT). Certification board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) upon hire. Proficiency in Outlook. Basic writing, reading and mathematics. Comprehensive knowledge of infection‑control practices, sterilization techniques, patient‑care equipment, supplies and case‑cart process. Accuracy, attention to detail and ability to adapt to priority changes. Customer‑service orientation. A valid driver’s license and safe driving record if selected to transport instrument trays.
