Senior Project Manager - Industrial Construction

MalaceHR is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Industrial Construction to oversee complex construction projects within an active, live industrial environment in St. Louis, MO. This position requires a highly organized, safety-focused professional with extensive hands-on experience managing projects directly on active construction sites.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial construction management, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, subcontractors, engineers, site personnel, and client stakeholders. Candidates must be comfortable working in an active facility where construction activities must be carefully coordinated with ongoing operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Manage industrial construction projects through all phases, including planning, design coordination, construction, execution, commissioning, and project closeout.
• Maintain a regular onsite presence to oversee construction activities and respond to real-time project and site challenges.
• Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, engineers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to maintain project schedules and successful execution.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, scope, documentation, change orders, and overall project performance.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is completed according to project specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
• Maintain strict compliance with site-specific safety requirements, OSHA standards, and established construction safety procedures.
• Coordinate construction activities around ongoing facility operations to minimize disruption to the active site.
• Identify project risks, schedule conflicts, safety concerns, and other potential issues and develop appropriate corrective actions.
• Conduct site walks, construction meetings, progress reviews, and contractor coordination meetings.
• Review construction drawings, schedules, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation.
• Maintain accurate project records, schedules, budgets, status reports, and closeout documentation.
• Provide regular project updates to leadership and client stakeholders regarding schedule, budget, safety, risks, and overall project progress.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for project stakeholders and maintain clear, professional communication throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage multiple priorities and projects while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
• Support project turnover, commissioning, punch-list completion, and final project closeout activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
• Minimum of 7 years of hands-on project management experience within industrial construction environments .
• Demonstrated experience managing projects directly on active, live construction sites .
• Strong understanding of industrial construction processes, sequencing, site logistics, and contractor coordination.
• Proven experience managing complex construction projects from initial planning through completion.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety requirements and OSHA standards.
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, documentation, quality control, and change management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, contractors, engineers, facility leadership, client representatives, and executive stakeholders.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities within fast-paced construction environments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, contractors, deadlines, and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Strong commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant construction environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification or comparable construction safety credential.
• Experience with lean construction methodologies.
• Experience with project management and construction software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam .
• Experience supporting construction within manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, logistics, or other industrial facilities .
• Experience managing design-build and/or fast-track construction projects.
