Housekeeping Technician

Essential Job Duties We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Pack as a Temporary Facilities Enhancement Technician. The Student Centers Facilities Enhancement team offers meaningful opportunities for employment across our retail and hospitality units. Duties and Responsibilities Use standard housekeeping equipment, tools and supplies to accomplish basic cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, disinfecting and replenishing. Report discrepancies found within the building, and respond to emergencies and inclement weather. Complete assigned projects. Maintain inventory of assigned areas. Move and reset furniture as needed. Perform proper routine maintenance on all equipment. Work during adverse weather conditions to participate in snow or ice removal under a supervisor’s direction. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the Student Centers business needs are met. Excellent performance may provide an opportunity to renew employment or advance. Hourly position with a 10‑11 month assignment and a mandatory 32‑day break at the end of the 11th month. Work Schedule 40 hours per week; Shift 1A – 4:30 am – 12:30 pm; Shift 1B – 8:30 am – 5:30 pm; Shift 2 – 3:30 pm – 12:00 am; weekends required for all shifts. Minimum Experience and Education High school diploma or equivalency; demonstrated competencies or an equivalent combination of training and experience will also be considered. Required Skills Knowledge of cleaning procedures and best housekeeping practices. Ability to use standard housekeeping equipment such as vacuums. Ability to report discrepancies and respond to emergencies and inclement weather. Adaptability to fast‑paced environments. Effective communication with customers, public, supervisors and peers; proficiency with university e‑mail. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Provide outstanding customer service, maintaining professionalism and respect under pressure. Excellence in completing all tasks. Team‑oriented work style. Physical stamina to stand for long periods, walk, bend, twist, pull and push. Lift a minimum of 60 lbs frequently and 90 lbs occasionally, with or without reasonable accommodations. Preferred Experience and Training Experience performing housekeeping duties in a university or commercial environment.
