Your first sales challenge: convince me we should build this together.​

I’m hiring a Founding Head of Growth for OpeningMove.com, a sales and marketing platform for traditional businesses.

I could ask for a résumé and a cover letter. But this job is about getting someone’s attention, understanding what matters to them, and giving them a reason to act.

So show me how you do that.

Who you’d be building with

I’m Zak Boca. I’ve been starting businesses since high school and have had five exits, each over $10M. My most recent was in 2024.

I co-founded MidPhase, which we grew to $16M in three years, and SingleHop, which grew from a bootstrapped start to more than 3,000 customers and 150 employees before a nine-figure acquisition in 2018.

I’m back at the beginning by choice. I believe OpeningMove could be the biggest business I’ve built, and I’m self-funding it through product-market fit.

Who I’m looking for

Someone who knows CRMs deeply. Maybe you’ve sold one, helped build one, or spent years seeing where they disappoint customers.

You need strong sales instincts and the ability to figure out a go-to-market approach before there’s a playbook. You should be comfortable talking to business owners, asking for the sale, hearing “no,” and figuring out whether the problem was the pitch, the product, or the customer you chose.

If your first move would be to hire a team to do those things, this probably isn’t your role.

How to get my attention

You choose the format. A sharp message can beat a beautiful deck.

You could:

- Show me something you sold that was genuinely hard to sell, and explain what made it work.

- Pick a type of traditional business and make a compelling case for why we should start there.

- Write the opening of a sales conversation you think that owner would actually want to have.

- Challenge an assumption in this post.

- Do something better than any of these suggestions.

You don’t have enough information to write our business plan. I’m not asking you to. I want to see your judgment, curiosity, and ability to make someone interested.

Please don’t spend money, send gifts, contact customers on our behalf, or turn this into a weekend of unpaid work. Clever doesn’t have to mean elaborate. Relevant beats loud.
