Role Overview

BEPC is seeking a skilled Manufacturing & Automation Engineer to support manufacturing automation initiatives at our client's facility in San Angelo, TX. This role focuses on system integration, SCADA development, industrial automation, and connecting plant-floor control systems with enterprise-level databases and MES platforms.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with PLC programming, OPC UA architecture, SCADA systems, industrial networking, and database integration. This position plays a critical role in optimizing manufacturing performance, ensuring reliable data flow, and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) across production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and configure secure, reliable OPC UA communication architectures using Kepware KEPServerEX.
• Establish and maintain high-performance connectivity between manufacturing equipment and enterprise systems.
• Architect and manage bi-directional data exchange between plant-floor machinery and corporate databases.
• Support database integration using FactoryTalk Transaction Manager and SQL-based systems.
• Program, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize Siemens PLCs (S7-1200/S7-1500) using TIA Portal.
• Program, modify, troubleshoot, and optimize Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix/CompactLogix) using Studio 5000 and RSLogix 5000.
• Develop, configure, and deploy HMI and SCADA solutions using Siemens WinCC and FactoryTalk View.
• Collaborate with Operations, MES, Quality, Engineering, and IT teams to integrate automated manufacturing equipment.
• Create and maintain tag databases and communication mappings across multiple systems.
• Troubleshoot communication failures and data transfer issues.
• Ensure data integrity and system reliability throughout MES and manufacturing environments.
• Support equipment commissioning, startup activities, and automation system validation.
• Optimize PLC logic and automation performance to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Maintain documentation for automation systems, network configurations, and process improvements.
• Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience programming and commissioning industrial PLCs in a manufacturing environment.

• TIA Portal
• STEP 7
• S7-1200
• S7-1500
• Advanced experience with Rockwell Automation platforms:
• Studio 5000
• RSLogix 5000
• ControlLogix
• CompactLogix
• Strong experience configuring Kepware KEPServerEX.
• Strong knowledge of OPC UA architecture and security protocols.
• Experience with FactoryTalk Transaction Manager.
• Experience working with SQL and relational databases.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols, including:
• Profinet
• Ethernet/IP
• Modbus TCP
• OPC UA
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting MES integrations.
• Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of SCADA system architecture and enterprise integrations.
• Experience working with multi-vendor automation platforms.
• Understanding of manufacturing data analytics and OEE improvement initiatives.
