Forty Acres Tavern is one of the most celebrated full-service restaurants across all of Boyne Resorts and the kitchen is where that reputation is earned, plate by plate, shift by shift. As a Line Cook at Forty Acres, you're not just executing recipes - you're upholding a standard that guests come back for, season after season.
We're looking for a cook who takes pride in their station, communicates well with their team, and brings the same level of care and focus to the hundredth plate of the night as they did to the first. Responsibilities
- Excellence in Execution - Prepare food according to recipes, use records, and presentation specifications measuring, mixing, plating, and portioning with consistency and precision every single time. Observe and test foods by tasting, smelling, and using a thermometer to ensure everything leaving your station meets the Forty Acres standard.
- Long-Term Thinking - Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at your station before and throughout service. Label, date, and rotate all stored food properly, and perform thorough closing procedures cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing the kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas so the next shift starts strong.
- Serve First - Communicate and coordinate production with fellow cooks, wait staff, and the broader food and beverage team. A smooth, high-volume service at Forty Acres is a team effort and you're a reliable part of that team every shift.
- Attitude is Everything - Bring focus, composure, and positive energy to every shift. Forty Acres is a high-volume, full-service environment that demands a cook who stays sharp and steady whether it's a quiet afternoon or a packed weekend dinner rush.
- Operate and adjust all kitchen equipment ovens, broilers, grills, roasters, kettles, and more safely and confidently, and develop familiarity with all equipment in the kitchen.
- Adhere to all food handling guidelines, sanitation standards, and kitchen policies and procedures at all times.
Qualifications
- You are at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
- You have previous kitchen experience and are comfortable working a high-volume line.
- You're available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays- a resort kitchen runs on the guests' schedule, and you're ready for that.
- You take pride in consistency, cleanliness, and doing things the right way every time.
- You're a team player who communicates well and thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy kitchen environment.
