Transportation Manager

Summary In the Transportation Manager position, you will provide superior service to customers, identify and implement timely solutions to transportation and delivery challenges, and develop and promote safety, customer service, and operational excellence. You will work closely with the Transportation Department and the Vice President of Operations at our Louisa, Kentucky location, contributing to a team that has been servicing customers and delivering fine foods since 1942. Responsibilities Provide daily work direction to delivery drivers to ensure safe and efficient operations and meet customer requirements; maintain daily activity assignments of tractors, trailers, trucks, and drivers. Monitor daily activity, making necessary adjustments to load assignments, special deliveries, or pickup instructions while communicating effectively with team members, customers, drivers, and dispatch. Create employee schedules and take appropriate actions to meet established goals. Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and stay informed of regulatory and logistical issues. Drive employee performance through training, coaching, routine driver audits, and observations focused on safety, operational efficiency, and compliance, including annual reviews. Be available to respond to emergencies or other unexpected operational requirements (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays) and participate in on‑call rotation if possible. Education and Experience High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) required; Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain/logistics, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years supervising drivers preferred. Regulatory knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local guidelines (DOT, DMV). Experience with GPS systems, routing optimization, handheld scanners, and cameras (Samsara experience preferred). Computer proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must pass all pre‑employment screens (including drug, criminal, and driving record). Possess a current Class A CDL license or be willing to obtain one. Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs. Knowledge of customer service principles and quality standards. Ability to use a computer, smartphone, business software, and new applications/proprietary software. Self‑motivated and customer focused. Maintain a current and valid driver’s license.
