Job Overview As a Military Police Officer in the Army National Guard you will protect, defend, and uphold the law in both combat and peacetime settings. Your mission includes battlefield support, area security, prisoner of war operations, civilian internment supervision, and law‑and‑order duties. In civilian life you will be prepared for careers in police forces and security firms. Key Responsibilities Conduct law‑enforcement patrols Interview witnesses, victims, and suspects during investigations Secure and process crime scenes Arrest and charge criminal suspects Support battlefield operations through circulation control and area security Implement crime‑prevention programs and preserve law and order in peacetime Army communities Skills You’ll Learn Basic warrior skills and firearms use Military and civil laws and jurisdiction Investigating and collecting evidence Traffic and crowd control techniques Arrest and restraint of suspects Helpful Skills Interest in law enforcement Ability to make quick decisions Ability to remain calm under heavy duress Ability to interact well with people Training Program The training regimen includes 10 weeks of Basic Training covering foundational soldiering skills, followed by 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and on‑the‑job instruction, with both classroom and field practice.
