The nurse will work on a unit with a variety of patient diagnoses, including dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, and COPD. The typical patient ratio is 1:5-6. The nurse will be expected to manage patients who may require isolation precautions due to infectious conditions. Responsibilities include the administration of medications and blood products, as well as management of hemodialysis patients. Experience with telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias is essential. The nurse will perform phlebotomy and manage central and peripheral lines. Knowledge of colostomy and feeding tube care is needed. The role requires familiarity with rapid response team protocols. The nurse must be able to operate medical equipment such as CPAP/BiPAP and high flow nasal cannula. Strong wound care management skills are required. The nurse will work closely with an interdisciplinary team, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Availability to float to other units may be necessary as patient care needs change. Pre-employment EKG testing must be passed prior to beginning the role. Candidates must be willing to comply with all unit and organizational policies, including those related to time off requests.
