Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant Opportunity At Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Hospitalist team in the beautiful Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.

Working alongside experienced Hospitalist physicians, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, care coordinators, and specialists, you'll help deliver exceptional care while making a meaningful difference in a close-knit community.

As a Hospitalist NP or PA, you will provide comprehensive inpatient care including diagnosis, treatment, care coordination, preventive care, and health maintenance. You'll assess and manage patients throughout their hospitalization, collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members, and help ensure a seamless patient experience from admission through discharge. This role includes caring for patients on our Medical-Surgical Unit and assisting in the management of patients in our 4-bed Open ICU. Candidates should be comfortable caring for ICU patients with Hospitalist physician consultation and support readily available.

This position is ideal for an experienced advanced practice provider who enjoys inpatient medicine, values teamwork, and appreciates the opportunity to practice at the top of their license in a supportive Critical Access Hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients through comprehensive health histories, physical examinations, diagnostic testing, and ongoing assessments to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, prescribe medications in accordance with Vermont regulations, provide patient education, and coordinate follow-up care.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, case managers, and specialists to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care and smooth care transitions.
• Review diagnostic studies, coordinate referrals and consultations, participate in quality improvement initiatives and provider meetings, and contribute to the ongoing success of the Hospital Medicine program.

Required Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner Candidates

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
• Current Vermont APRN license or ability to obtain
• Current Vermont DEA certificate or ability to obtain
• National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
• Malpractice insurability required

Physician Assistant Candidates

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Current Vermont PA license or ability to obtain
• Current Vermont DEA certificate or ability to obtain
• NCCPA certification required
• Malpractice insurability required
