This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health- Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center, 2100 Charlie Hall Blvd, Charleston, SC 29414.

Under general supervision you will provide advance clinical assessments, consultation, crisis intervention, and short-term case management services for patients being discharged from local hospitals or from the community at large. The overall purpose of this position is to provide timely access to outpatient mental health services and to divert hospitalization and/or incarcerations. In addition, this individual works mobile crisis after-hours and includes being on call.
Responsibilities for the Mobile Crisis Mental Health Professional :

• Provide quality person-centered care as demonstrated by the use of evidence-based clinical interventions.
• Provide all forms of direct services as credentialed by the Center in an efficient manner as evidenced by meeting the established patient care expectation.
• Documentation is reflective of the quality care expected of this position.
• Demonstrate recognition of importance of collaboration and teamwork within the Center and the community.
• Ensure patient functionality is measured according to established standard.
• Retain overall responsibility for meeting Quality Assurance standards
• Ensure timely response to request services.
• Comply with all BHDD/CDMHC, policies and protocols, applicable QI, Corporate Compliance, Cultural Competency and CARF/AAS policies and procedures and Federal and State rules and regulations; Attends all trainings classified mandatory by Federal and State regulations and Center policy.
• Provide advance triage for walk-ins and phone callers. assist patients seeking routine intake appointments, provide screening for psychiatric emergencies.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

• A master's degree in guidance, counseling, the social sciences or a related field.

Additional Requirements

• In order to be credentialed for core services as a Mental Health Professional at the SC Office of Mental Health, applicants must provide evidence of clinical experience providing direct patient care. This experience may be documented as a practicum or internship during graduate program, or post-graduate clinical experience. Please be sure to provide specific clinical activities on your application and/or resume.
• This is an essential position and may require work on holidays, weather emergencies etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• A Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited program, university, or college in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family counseling or other behavioral discipline deemed equivalent by BHDD.

Additional Comments

• Have working knowledge of Mental Health legal principles and practices, of methods, principles and practices of clinical counseling and educational services.
• Have considerable knowledge of psychopathology and patient management in psychiatric settings.
• Have working knowledge of basic health and welfare services provided by other agencies.
• Be able to effectively plan, coordinate and manage complex treatment and to the ability to conduct detailed investigations, draw conclusions and recommend required actions.
