Admin - Assistant Principal @ Longview Elementary Position: Elementary Associate Principal. The Associate Principal works with the Principal to support students who are not meeting academic standards, especially literacy and mathematics, and to promote a safe, inclusive, and high‑performing environment aligned with the Moses Lake School District mission, vision, and core values. The Associate Principal leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of behavior systems that promote positive student conduct, reduce disciplinary disparities, and support the social‑emotional growth of all students. They maintain high visibility, build strong relationships with students and families, and ensure consistent, fair, and restorative practices in student discipline. The role also includes supervising and evaluating certificated and classified staff. In partnership with the Principal, the Associate Principal ensures a safe, inclusive, and academically focused learning environment that aligns with district goals and LA P/LA P‑High Poverty requirements, coordinating evidence‑based interventions, supporting data‑driven decisions, and aligning behavioral supports to maximize instructional time for identified students. Minimum Qualifications and Attributes Master’s degree in education or related field Valid Washington State Administrator Certificate (or eligibility) Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience Demonstrated experience supporting student behavior and school climate Experience in staff supervision and/or evaluation preferred Strong belief in equitable outcomes for all students Knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, and/or restorative practices Ability to remain calm, solutions‑oriented, and student‑centered under pressure Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills Demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, staff, and families Commitment to ethical, transparent, and student‑centered decision‑making Leadership Competencies Builds trust and positive relationships with students, staff, and families Demonstrates strong emotional intelligence and conflict resolution skills Communicates clearly and effectively across diverse audiences Applies a restorative and instructional approach to student discipline Promotes consistency, fairness, and equity in behavioral expectations Supports a collaborative and student‑centered school culture Uses data to inform decisions and improve systems Essential Job Functions Student Behavior & School Climate Lead implementation and continuous improvement of school‑wide behavior systems (e.g., PBIS, MTSS) to increase engagement and instructional time. Manage discipline in alignment with district policy, emphasizing restorative practices and explicit expectations. Ensure consistent, equitable application of behavioral expectations and responses. Analyze discipline and engagement data to identify trends, address disproportionality, and strengthen systems. Provide coaching and support to staff in effective classroom management and behavior interventions. Develop and implement positive support plans with staff, families, and support teams to remove barriers to learning. Maintain high visibility to build relationships and reinforce expectations. Coordinate with counselors, specialists, and outside agencies to align supports for student readiness. Instructional & Staff Leadership Assist in supervising and evaluating certificated staff, including observations and feedback. Assist in supervising and evaluating classified staff, ensuring clarity of expectations and professional development. Support the Principal in implementing district curriculum and instructional practices. Provide targeted coaching related to classroom environment, behavior management, and engagement. Support Professional Learning Teams in analyzing behavior and engagement data. Lead coordination of state and district assessments, ensuring compliance and data integrity. Promote a collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement. Operations & Compliance Assist in overseeing building operations, safety procedures, supervision systems, and student records. Ensure compliance with district policies, state laws, collective bargaining agreements, and evaluation procedures. Support emergency response and crisis management procedures. Help coordinate student supervision schedules and building coverage. Coordinate and monitor LA P / LA P‑High Poverty funded services and interventions. Use student data to identify students for support services and evaluate effectiveness. Ensure compliance with all LA P program requirements, including documentation and reporting. Family & Community Engagement Communicate proactively with families regarding behavior, supports, and interventions. Build partnerships with families to promote positive outcomes. Participate in school events and community engagement opportunities. Student Support & Well‑Being Counsel and support students in developing appropriate behavior and decision‑making. Promote a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel valued and supported. Support attendance improvement efforts and interventions. District Collaboration & Leadership Collaborate with the principal to support effective leadership and operations; may lead and oversee functions such as discipline, instructional leadership, staff supervision, school climate, family engagement, and operations. Participate in district committees and leadership teams. Engage in professional learning related to behavior systems and school improvement. Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
