Job OpportunityThe Surgical Technologist will function primarily as a scrub person, working under the supervision of the surgeon and registered nurse to ensure a safe operating room environment. Responsibilities include ensuring that equipment is functional and that operative procedures are conducted in a manner that maximizes patient safety. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of surgical techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the implementation of tools and technologies relevant to invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.Shift DetailsThis position entails 10-12 hour shifts, subject to the needs of the facility. The Surgical Technologist may be required to float to Labor & Delivery if necessary.Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalentGraduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or a military surgical technologist programAmerican Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationCertified Surgical Technologist (CST) designationEssential Job FunctionsEnsure completion of case carts according to preference cards.Recognize and interpret preference cards for the procurement of instruments and supplies.Communicate effectively with operating room staff and sterile processing team to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases.Review daily schedule with the charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify potential turnover delays and scheduling issues.Take responsibility for managing communication responsibilities related to the position, delegating duties appropriately, and coordinating breaks and lunches.Act as a resource for the Surgical Services and Sterile Processing Departments in procuring necessary items and instrumentation for surgical procedures.Coordinate with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment.Additional InformationThe facility reserves the right to cancel a maximum of three shifts within a 13-week contract period due to low census or other unforeseen circumstances. Additionally, candidates must reside at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered for this position.Location: City, State
