Industry Insurance Type Privately Held About the Role The Company is in search of a Head of Valuation to spearhead its actuarial valuation function. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading the valuation and reporting of statutory reserves, with a primary focus on annuity business and a broader involvement in life and health valuation. Key responsibilities include overseeing statutory reserve calculations, supporting the development of actuarial memoranda, and ensuring compliance with U.S. statutory accounting requirements. The role demands a highly visible leadership position, and for the right candidate, the potential to also serve as the Appointed Actuary, with formal regulatory responsibilities. Applicants for the Head of Valuation role at the company must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant quantitative field, be a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). A minimum of 7 years' actuarial experience, with a strong background in U.S. statutory valuation and significant experience in annuity valuation, is required. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in conducting experience studies, setting actuarial assumptions, and maintaining strong governance over valuation models. Technical proficiency in actuarial modeling platforms is essential, and experience with life and health valuation is strongly preferred. The role also involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulators, to ensure the adequacy of reserves and the accuracy of financial reporting.
