Computational Mathematics Expert for AI Training [Remote]

Apply advanced computational mathematics to help train next-generation AI systems at the intersection of mathematics, AI, and software engineering. This remote contractor role focuses on producing concrete, real-world examples and documented workflows that show how AI coding agents can be integrated into technical problem-solving, debugging, and feature development. Domain expertise in computational mathematics is the primary requirement; prior AI experience is not required.

• Deliver detailed, real-world examples of using AI coding agents, including Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, and Claude Cowork, on computational mathematics projects.
• Describe and document end-to-end workflows where AI agents were used for complex tasks, such as navigating large codebases, debugging sophisticated issues, implementing features, or performing architectural changes.
• Provide clear written and verbal explanations of project goals, technical challenges, and the specific roles AI agents played in problem solving.
• Evaluate and articulate the comparative effectiveness of different AI agent tools for ambiguous or open-ended mathematical and coding problems.
• Submit concise reports that summarize project complexity, problem context, decisions made, and outcomes influenced by AI agents.
• Offer practical feedback on integration approaches and known limitations of AI tools within computational mathematics workflows.
• Participate in remote consultations or knowledge-sharing sessions as needed.

• Required skills: computational mathematics, Python, AI coding agents (Codex, Claude Science, Claude Code, Claude Cowork), technical documentation, complex problem solving, debugging complex codebases, AI workflow integration, remote work management, and strong written and verbal communication.
• Preferred: current STEM professional with hands-on experience in computational mathematics and AI-driven coding workflows.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI coding agents to generate actionable code sequences rather than only chat-based assistance.
• Proven track record applying AI agents to advanced tasks such as debugging, architectural modification, or handling large, ambiguous problem sets.
• Experience working remotely and managing deliverables independently, and the ability to analyze and document the value and boundaries of AI agent usage.
• No prior AI domain experience required; domain knowledge in computational mathematics is the primary qualification.
