Nursing Assistant PACUThe Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) is a specialized hospital unit where patients are closely monitored and cared for immediately following surgical or procedural interventions requiring anesthesia. The PACU is critical for ensuring patient safety and comfort during the initial recovery period, addressing potential complications, and transitioning patients to the next phase of care.Nursing Assistant (PACU):Transports patients after recovery.Assists patients in personal hygiene such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair and nail care.Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity and recording I & O. Does not leave patient unattended when out of bed for bathroom assistance.Assists patients in dressing and undressing while providing dignity and privacy.Assist patients by lifting them manually or by mechanical lifts as needed as directed by the nurse.Assist patients with eating and drinking and nutritional needs.Assist in transferring and discharging patients as required.Assist patients in positioning for meals including cleaning hands of patientsAssists with serving meals and feeding patients as necessaryOffers supplemental feeding/snacksProvides patient with fresh ice and drinking water per policyDocuments input on chart at least every two hoursTurns patients every two hours and/or as indicated as directed by the NurseMaintains proper body alignment while performing patient transfer and activitiesEscorts patients during admission, transfer, and discharge as requestedAssists with ambulation, up in chair, or other activitiesVerifies patient's limitations, restrictions, and plan for mobility with Nurse prior to initiation of patient care.On Call required-weeknights, weekends, and holidays picked by rotation.Requirements Nursing Assistant (PACU):High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.Current KY Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completions of first year of Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
