Job Summary Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act, with emphasis on the diagnostic imaging patient. Use therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual patients. Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process. Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care. Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver. Participate in diagnostic imaging specific initiatives and process improvement. Promote a supportive diagnostic imaging environment. Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, vocational nurses, nurse technicians, student nurses and/or nurse externs. Maintain high quality (age specific) care for infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, as assigned. Support the mission, vision and values of the organization. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. If hired after 6/1/12, BSN required within 24 months of hire into RN position. Experience with radiation safety required. 1 year critical care nursing experience preferred. Experience with infant to adult radiology patients preferred. Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license. Current AHA or ARC BLS provider. Current ACLS. PALS required within 6 months of hire or transfer.
