Civil Litigation Associate AttorneyWe are seeking a Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to join an established Chicago litigation practice.We are looking for an attorney with approximately 2–6 years of litigation experience who has developed strong litigation fundamentals and is ready to continue taking on meaningful responsibility.This opportunity is intentionally open to attorneys from a variety of civil litigation backgrounds. Insurance defense, tort litigation, professional liability, medical malpractice, commercial litigation, municipal/government defense, civil rights, construction, and other civil defense experience can all translate well to this role.The OpportunityThis is a hands-on litigation position for an attorney who wants substantive involvement in their cases rather than a narrowly defined supporting role.Depending on experience, responsibilities may include:Managing an active caseload and developing case strategyDrafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive filingsHandling written discovery and document productionTaking and defending depositionsPreparing clients and witnesses for deposition and trialWorking directly with expert witnessesDrafting and arguing dispositive motionsAppearing regularly for hearings, conferences, and other court proceedingsParticipating in arbitrations, mediations, and settlement negotiationsPreparing complex matters for trialSecond-chairing and handling trials as experience allowsCommunicating directly with clients throughout the litigation processWhat We're Looking ForApproximately 2–6 years of civil litigation experienceExperience independently handling substantive aspects of litigation mattersStrong legal research, writing, and analytical skillsExperience with discovery, depositions, and motion practiceAbility to develop case strategy and manage deadlinesStrong written and oral advocacy skillsComfortable working directly with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counselIllinois Bar admissionWe are particularly interested in attorneys who have already begun taking ownership of their cases and want an environment where they can continue developing as litigators and trial attorneys.Litigation Backgrounds (Candidates do not need experience in every area listed)Insurance and tort defenseProfessional liabilityMedical malpracticeCommercial litigationMunicipal and governmental defenseCivil rights litigationConstruction litigationProduct liabilityWrongful death and catastrophic injury mattersOther complex civil litigationA strong civil litigator with transferable skills will be considered even if their current practice has been concentrated in only one or two areas.All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, age, color, sex (including pregnancy), religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, military status, genetic information, or any other status protected by applicable laws or regulations.
