Advanced Practitioner- Developmental Pediatrics

Overview The Advanced Practitioner (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) is responsible for providing healthcare services to patients under the supervision of, and/or in collaboration with, the attending physician. These services include medical evaluation, treatment, counseling, and referrals, and consist of diagnostic evaluations, therapeutic remediation, surgical assistance, and pharmaceutical prescription. The Advanced Practitioner is charged with being a patient advocate and will participate in patient satisfaction, quality, and performance improvement initiatives. Job Duties and Responsibilities Competent in the assessment, treatment, counseling, and education of the patient and their families. Competent in evaluating patients and performing physical examinations, including obtaining, studying, and updating medical histories. Determine abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests such as radiologic and laboratory studies, and accurately interpreting results. Evaluate, develop, and implement appropriate patient management and treatment plans based on assessment of needs. Coordinate and communicate patient care effectively with other healthcare professionals and institutions. Provide high‑quality health care based on best practice and evidence‑based medicine. Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, as appropriate, and aligned with granted clinical privileges. Conduct virtual care services via St. Luke’s virtual care platform when requested. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education, workshops, and professional societies. Participate in the research, development, implementation, and tracking of clinical management guidelines. Teach multidisciplinary students and physician residents & fellows, ensuring a positive educational environment. Precept AP student clinical rotations when assigned. Demonstrate performance improvement in clinical care/outcomes, customer/service improvement, operational system/process, and safety. Use electronic medical records efficiently and document professionally to support billing. Show financial responsibility and accountability in daily procedures. Perform routine health maintenance activities for new and established patients. Coordinate patient care and family counseling with public and mental health agencies when appropriate. Teach wellness habits and educate patients on prevention of health problems. Provide occupational health services in the urgent care setting, including pre‑employment physicals and injury care. Physical and Sensory Requirements Sit up to 8 hours per day (3 hours at a time). Stand for up to 8 hours per day. Walk for up to 6 hours per day. Frequently lift, carry, and push objects up to 10 pounds; rarely up to 75 pounds. Frequently stoop, bend, reach above shoulder level, grasp and twist, and turn during procedures. Perceive attributes of objects through touch. Hear normal conversation with high and low frequencies. See general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision. Speak normal conversation and project voice for lectures and presentations. Education and Certification Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner or Medical Physician Assistant with a current license to practice in Pennsylvania or New Jersey, depending on job location. Physician Assistants must also have a current certification through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
