Business Systems Analyst

DescriptionWe are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support the buildout of a centralized data portal focused on governance, metadata transparency, and business glossary capabilities. This role will play a critical part in defining how data is structured, documented, and understood across multiple applications and databases.This is not a traditional reporting or dashboard-focused position. Instead, the emphasis is on metadata clarity, data lineage, governance structure, and improving visibility into how data elements are defined and used across the organization.You will partner closely with senior stakeholders and consulting leadership to translate business needs into structured, well-documented data frameworks.What You’ll Be Responsible ForAnalyze and document data fields, schemas, and structures across multiple applicationsSupport the development of a centralized data portal and business glossaryDefine and maintain metadata standards and data definitionsPerform advanced SQL analysis to validate, reconcile, and assess data integrityPartner with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical documentationIdentify data quality issues and recommend governance improvementsAssist in mapping data lineage and understanding cross-system relationshipsCreate detailed documentation including BRDs, functional specs, and metadata artifactsCollaborate with technology teams to ensure alignment on data standards and controlsPresent findings and recommendations to business leadershipRequired Qualifications5+ years of Business Systems Analysis experienceStrong SQL skills with hands-on data querying and validation experienceDeep understanding of databases, tables, fields, and schema structuresExperience supporting data governance initiatives or metadata management effortsExposure to data portals, data dictionaries, or business glossary frameworksStrong documentation and requirements-gathering capabilitiesExcellent communication skills with ability to engage senior stakeholdersExperience working in financial services, insurance, or regulated industriesPreferred QualificationsBackground in Big 4 consulting or similar advisory environmentsExperience at asset management or insurance firmsFamiliarity with governance tools such as Collibra, Alation, or similar platformsExperience working alongside consulting partnersSome exposure to data lineage tooling or data catalog implementation
