Job Summary This position provides direct patient care for patients with complex medical conditions or surgical patients in an ambulatory and/or inpatient setting. The Physician Assistant works closely with faculty, fellows, residents, and nursing staff to develop and coordinate patient care plans and may be required to work some off‑hour, weekend, and on‑call duties. Responsibilities Perform history and physical examinations, formulate care plans, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and provide education to patients and families. Act as an educator and serve as a clinical resource for staff through consultation, formal and informal education, literature review, and participation in seminars and conferences. Coordinate the care of patients to provide safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient‑centered care; liaise between visiting nurses, clinical staff, and consult services. Consult with physicians or surgeons regarding the care of patients for more complex diagnoses. Document clinical encounters clearly, precisely, and in a timely manner. Work collaboratively with other health professionals to determine the health needs of patients and families. Demonstrate and role‑model an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care. Qualifications Master’s degree in Physician Assistant required. Physician Assistant License required. Registration DPH Drug Control required. Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required. 0–1 years of related work experience required. ARC‑PA and NCCPA credentials required. American Heart Association‑Basic Life Support Certificate. Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH‑DCP and Federal DEA. Experience with computer systems required, including web‑based applications and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Preferred Qualifications Three to five years of experience in a clinical environment. Competencies Decision Making: Ability to make decisions guided by precedents, policies, and objectives. Oral Communications: Comprehend and communicate complex verbal information to medical center staff, patients, families, and external customers. Knowledge: Demonstrate in‑depth knowledge of concepts, practices, and policies for use in complex varied situations. Team Work: Lead collaborative teams for larger projects or groups across functional areas; results impact management and operations. Customer Service: Provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet standards and expectations; resolve service issues promptly and respectfully. Age‑Based Competencies Neonatal: Birth to 6 months Young Adult: 16–30 years Middle Age: 30–60 years Elderly: 60+ years Physical Requirements Medium work: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently. The job requires standing and/or moving around for the majority of the shift. Pay Range $133,120.00 – $230,000.00 USD. Compensation is determined by seniority, education, training, experience, certifications, geography, responsibilities, and other permissible factors.
