Shipboard Electrical Technician

THOR Solutions is actively seekingan experienced Shipboard Electrical Technician

with U.S. Navy shipboard experience to provide full-time support for U.S. Naval shipboard auxiliary equipment at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.

Typical Responsibilities: The candidate’s responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:

Technical assists

Total Ship Readiness Assessment

Monthly Status Reports

Location: Onsite at Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) in Norfolk, VA.

Typical Physical Activity: Mix of desk/computer work in an office environment and visits to waterfront/shipboard environments. May involve: repetitive motion, traversing shipboard environments (e.g. confined spaces, ladders, hatches), or vision.

Travel: Up to 10% travel is anticipated.

Typical Pay Range: The anticipated pay for this position in the identified location(s) is $37.68/hour. Actual compensation offered will be based upon individual factors including education, qualifications, and experience. This position is covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA) and will additionally receive $5.09/hour in "health and welfare" benefits.

Existing SECRET Security Clearance Required: This position requires an existing active or interim Secret security clearance prior to hire. Only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance; therefore, only current U.S. citizens will be considered for this position. A candidate without a clearance but with highly relevant experience may be considered, but still must obtain a clearance prior to hire.

Required Education, Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

A high school diploma, GED equivalent, or a relevant U.S. Navy technical school diploma/certification.

At least Five (5) years of relevant electrical experience in the operation, repair, maintenance and assessment of U.S. Naval auxiliary equipment to include but not limited to: Fire Pumps, Fuel Pumps, Lube Oil Pumps, Sea Water Pumps, Condensate Pumps, Potable Water Pumps, Main SW Circulating Pumps, Distilling Plants (Evaporators & Reverse Osmosis), Main Drainage Systems, Sewage Systems, Solid Waste Equipment, Oily Water Separators, Condensers/Heat Exchangers, and all associated valves/piping/equipment.

Demonstrated experience working in the official capacity of a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the aforementioned systems/equipment/components for a US Navy Engineering Activity, US Navy Shipboard Engineering Department, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or industrial/commercial equivalent.

Demonstrated working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits.

Demonstrated experience using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment.

Demonstrate experience interpreting wiring diagrams and control schematics.

Proficiency with common productivity software including the Microsoft Office suite.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
