Bilingual Medical Assistant (Spanish) - Primary Care

Location: Heights Area, Houston, TX
Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (1040 hours)
Pay: $18.50-$22.00/hour (DOE)
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM-5:00 PM OR 9:00 AM-6:00 PM (flexibility to float for coverage as needed)

About the Role

We are seeking a Bilingual Medical Assistant (Spanish) to join a busy primary care clinic in the Heights area. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity offering hands-on clinical and administrative experience in a patient-centered environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain vital signs, histories, and screenings
• Assist providers with exams, minor procedures, and patient care
• Administer vaccines and injections per provider orders
• Perform point-of-care testing and basic lab duties
• Monitor vaccine refrigerator temperatures and manage inventory
• Maintain OSHA compliance and sterilize instruments
• Manage Epic In-Basket messages and patient callbacks
• Coordinate referrals, labs, and external appointments
• Support daily provider huddles and clinic preparation
• Ensure accurate documentation within the EHR

Required Qualifications

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
• High school diploma or GED
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Bilingual in Spanish preferred
• Experience with both clinical and administrative duties
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail
• Reliable attendance and a patient-focused attitude

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Epic (In-Basket management)
• Vaccine administration and inventory management
• Point-of-care testing experience
• Knowledge of OSHA and sterilization protocols
• Ability to support multiple providers
• Pediatric experience is a plus
