MEOC Advisor - Aroostook County

As a member of the Maine Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) team, the MEOC Advisor conducts extensive recruitment activities in Aroostook County to fully enroll a proportional share of the funded number of MEOC participants for the MEOC grant. Currently the MEOC grant is funded to serve 2,269 participants. The MEOC Advisor provides academic, career, educational advising, and academic support, through high school graduation, the admissions and postsecondary enrollment process, and financial aid and scholarship application process. Services are provided in-person and virtually to both groups and individual participants. This position is physically based in Aroostook County, Maine, and requires regular travel between Houlton, Presque Isle, and Fort Kent to serve participants. It is not an Orono-based or fully remote position. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $32,000 to $42,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. Qualifications: Required: * Bachelor’s degree is required in counseling, education, social work, or related field * Two years previous experience relating to and working with disadvantaged youth or adults, schools, or community agencies, or equivalent * Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills

  • Ability to work simultaneously with multiple projects, deadlines, and
agencies * Ability to travel extensively within the project service area normally requires a driver’s license.
