Travel RN Job Details Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown / Med-Surg Telemetry Float Setting: Acute care float pool Location: Parkersburg, West Virginia Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,180–$2,290 Start Date: November 2, 2026 Assignment End Date: February 1, 2027 Contract Duration: 13 weeks Nursing Shift: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. Weekly Guarantee: 48 hours per week Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Call Requirement: No call; standby may be possible if census decreases Charting System: EPIC Openings: 2 Cardiac Stepdown RN Job Requirements Active Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in West Virginia At least 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience; cardiac stepdown or telemetry experience preferred Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac nursing skills Experience caring for patients with cardiac, medical, surgical, orthopedic, or neurological conditions Ability to float among inpatient units based on demonstrated clinical competency Comfort managing and titrating stepdown infusions according to unit policy Current driver’s license with a permanent address for assignment submission Willingness to wear royal blue scrubs and complete approximately 3–4 orientation shifts Travel Registered Nurse Responsibilities Deliver safe, comprehensive nursing care to patients in cardiac stepdown, medical-surgical, telemetry, and other assigned inpatient units. Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient condition, escalating concerns promptly. Care for stepdown patients requiring close monitoring and titration of medications such as heparin, Cardizem, nitroglycerin, insulin, dobutamine, dopamine, and other approved infusions. Manage patient assignments based on unit needs, including typical ratios of approximately 1:4–5 in stepdown and 1:6 in medical-surgical areas. Perform patient assessments, administer medications, coordinate treatments, and evaluate patient responses. Collaborate with providers, respiratory therapy, patient care technicians, monitor technicians, and interdisciplinary care teams. Provide care for patients requiring CPAP or BiPAP and support patients with chronic tracheostomy ventilation when assigned to an appropriate unit. Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC while maintaining continuity of care during unit transitions.
