About Us

The Institute for Democratic Discourse is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to promoting free expression, pluralism, and open inquiry. We believe healthy democracies depend on the ability to engage across differences with curiosity, civility, and mutual respect.

As a growing organization, we are looking for a volunteer who enjoys writing, organizing information, and helping people stay connected and informed. If you are passionate about civic engagement, communication, and making a meaningful contribution, we would love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As our Volunteer Communications Coordinator, you will play an important role in helping us engage our community and share the work we are doing. Responsibilities include:

• Preparing and sending email newsletters and updates to members and supporters.
• Sharing news about events, publications, and organizational activities.
• Helping draft announcements and other communications.
• Maintaining email lists and ensuring communications are timely and organized.
• Collaborating with organizational leadership on messaging and outreach.
• Helping supporters stay informed and engaged with our mission.

Who We're Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

• Enjoy writing and communicating with others.
• Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Are dependable and able to follow through on commitments.
• Have experience with email platforms such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact (helpful, but not required).
• Are interested in free expression, civic dialogue, democracy, public policy, education, or nonprofit work.
• Are a student, early-career professional, retiree, or anyone looking to contribute their talents to a meaningful cause.
