Senior Federal Accounting Specialist

Location: Candidates must be located in one of the three areas: Cleveland, OH; or Pensacola, FL; or Arlington, VA

Experience level: 5–10+ years

We are seeking a finance professional who understands how federal government accounting organizations operate and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to tackle complex financial and process issues. Candidates should have hands-on experience supporting a government accounting or comptroller function, with expertise in financial execution, appropriations management, accounting operations, and enterprise financial management systems. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity with one of our defense clients.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in federal government accounting, financial management, or comptroller operations. More experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong knowledge of federal accounting principles, appropriations, funds execution, reconciliations, and financial management policies.
• Experience investigating and resolving accounting discrepancies, transaction errors, or complex financial management issues.
• Demonstrated understanding of how accounting transactions affect financial statements, general ledger balances, and funds accountability.
• Experience working within a government accounting office, comptroller organization, or comparable financial operations environment.
• Ability to independently research accounting policies, interpret financial regulations, and determine appropriate corrective actions.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, and ability to learn unfamiliar financial systems and business processes.
• An active Secret clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain one.
