Organization Ultrasound Job Summary Under the leadership of the Director of Medical Imaging Services, the sonographer is responsible for operating diagnostic ultrasound equipment while performing sonographic procedures at a technical level requiring minimal supervision. The role demands independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to obtain diagnostic images on patients of all ages, and to assume responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Key Responsibilities Operate ultrasound equipment and perform varied ultrasound procedures; operate PACS and utilize radiographic supplies per department standards. Participate in after‑hours and weekend call for the Ultrasound department. Identify each patient, review orders for consistency, and review each examination for technical accuracy. Present completed examinations to radiologists and communicate pertinent data to the care team following the procedure. Organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and implementing the physician's order. Be competent in an OR setting with sterile technique knowledge and perform US procedures in the OR. Demonstrate competency in high‑level disinfection in accordance with hospital policy. Implement care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner to ensure delivery of quality care according to age‑specific guidelines ranging from infancy to geriatrics. Adhere to all department/hospital safety procedures for patient and material handling. Demonstrate an understanding of and adherence to the Compliance and Ethics Program.
