Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Oncology Chemo Certified Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ONS/ONCC Chemo Certification Must-Have: - Traveler must have oncology certification. - Traveler must be able to administer chemotherapy if needed. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly turn into a cancel and DNR. Looking for skilled RNs for this medical surgical oncology unit. Traveler experience will be accepted for first-time travelers. Experience in an inpatient setting is required. Candidates must have skills in Med/Surg, colostomy care, accessing ports, and blood product administration. Central line blood draw and peripheral line care/management skills are required. PICC line management, heparin, insulin, surgical drains, chest tubes, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management experience are necessary. Candidates should be knowledgeable in isolation precautions and wound care/wound vac. Charge nurse experience and OCN certification are preferred. Responsibilities include caring for primarily medical surgical patients with an oncology history. The target nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:6. Call may be required if called off on a prescheduled shift. Floating to similar units and alternate care locations will be necessary. Every other weekend work is required. Contract staff may be assigned to work a storm team or hurricane team. Attendance at monthly staff meetings is mandatory. Patients may include those with AKI, sepsis, cancer, septic shock, pain, OD, malignant neoplasms, and diabetic foot ulcers among others. The daily patient census is approximately 42. During times of increased census, typical ratios may be higher. Contract staff will be assigned equally with home unit staff to ensure coverage. All testing must be completed prior to the start for this specialty. This position requires a commitment to patient care, teamwork, and flexibility to meet the needs of the unit.
