Description JOB TITLE: Employment Consultant/Career Coach DEPARTMENT: Employment Services SUPERVISOR’S TITLE: Director of Employment Services POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None JOB STATUS: Full-time, Part-time, Non-Exempt SCHEDULE: Full-time (Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), Part-time 20+ Hrs per week Summary: Provide career development, employment support, and transition services to students and individuals with disabilities. The Employment Consultant/Career Coach works closely with participants, families, schools, Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), employers, and community partners to help individuals develop skills, explore career options, obtain meaningful competitive employment, and maintain successful employment outcomes. Rauch Employment Services provides job readiness, career exploration, job development, job coaching, and follow-along support to individuals facing barriers to employment. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a primary Rauch representative and point of contact for schools, community partners, employers, referral sources, and Vocational Rehabilitation staff. Support participants in identifying career interests, developing employment goals, building job-readiness skills, and pursuing meaningful, competitive employment. Partner with VR counselors to identify eligible applicants, provide information about VR services, and assist students and participants with the VR referral and application process. Provide Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) in individual and group settings, including career exploration, workplace readiness, self-advocacy, and skill-development activities. Collaborate with school personnel to identify students with disabilities who may benefit from transition and employment services. Support students, families, schools, and service providers during transition-planning meetings, including IEP and IPE meetings, as appropriate. Assist participants in developing skills needed for employment, post-secondary education, independence, and self-determination. Help identify and coordinate job accommodations, workplace adaptations, benefits resources, provider options, and other supports needed for successful employment. Build and maintain professional relationships with employers, schools, community organizations, service providers, and collaborative partners. Assist with planning and participating in transition fairs, career fairs, internships, work experiences, marketing activities, and other employment-related events. Support collaborative partners in developing meaningful, community-based internships and work experiences for participants. Advocate for participant choice, including provider selection, job matching, and identification of individualized support needs. Partner with families and community resources, including IN*SOURCE staff as appropriate, to help families understand transition services, navigate systems, and maintain high expectations for employment outcomes. Collect, track, and report participant and program data; assist with needs assessments and outcome-monitoring requirements. Maintain accurate, complete, and timely documentation in accordance with departmental deadlines, agency policies, and regulatory requirements. Maintain an organized Outlook calendar and develop a participant-centered schedule that meets program and service needs. Attend required staff meetings, team meetings, conference calls, local and statewide collaborative meetings, trainings, and agency functions. Promote Rauch’s mission, uphold professional and ethical standards, and contribute positively to a respectful and collaborative team environment. Assist with agency committees, task forces, program planning, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications & Skills: High school diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience required; a bachelor’s degree in human services may be accepted in place of experience. Experience in special education, supported employment, transition services, workforce development, or related human services preferred. Ability to build positive, professional relationships with participants, families, school personnel, employers, VR staff, and community partners. Strong verbal and written communication, advocacy, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as a member of a team. Ability to respond empathetically, respectfully, and professionally to individuals receiving services. Ability to maintain accurate records, complete documentation on time, and handle confidential information appropriately. Strong computer skills, including email, calendar management, documentation systems, and Microsoft Office or similar programs. Ability to manage a flexible schedule and adapt services to participant, school, employer, and program needs. Must have access to reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of current vehicle liability insurance. Physical & Work Requirements: Frequent local travel between schools, community locations, employer sites, and agency offices; occasional long-distance or out-of-state travel may be required. Ability to work flexible or non-standard hours, including occasional evening or weekend work. Frequent indoor and outdoor work in school, community, office, and employment settings. Frequent sitting and manual tasks; occasional walking, standing, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting or carrying 25–40 pounds. Maintain awareness of safety practices and comply with all agency health, safety, and emergency procedures. Work safely, encourage safe practices among others, and report potentially hazardous conditions to supervisors.
