THE JOB:
Step into the excitement of Detroit Central Market at MGM Grand Detroit, where bold flavors and high-energy vibes come together! We're looking for a passionate Cook I to join our fast-paced food hall team, bringing dishes to life with skill, creativity, and attention to detail. In this role, you'll prepare fresh, high-quality menu items, keep the kitchen running smoothly, and help deliver an unforgettable guest experience with every plate. From mastering culinary techniques to working side-by-side with a dynamic team, you'll play a key part in creating those "WOW" moments our guests love. If you thrive in a lively environment and take pride in your craft, this is your chance to shine!
THE STARTING RATE: $18.26 an hour THE DAY-TO-DAY:
- Maintain solid knowledge of food products and skillfully apply culinary techniques
- Identify and safely use kitchen equipment
- Restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service
- Properly label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation
- Maintain solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation
- Assist kitchen leadership and staff in execution of service
- Maintain solid knowledge, understanding and preparation of base sauces, stocks and soups
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Two years prior relevant experience in a similar resort setting preferred
- One year of prior relevant cooking experience preferred
