Senior IT Program Manager

Job Title: Senior IT Program Manager Location: Columbus, Ohio Role Overview The Program Manager directs, controls, and administers programs and projects within the organization, leading full lifecycle implementations from requirements definition through execution. This role is ultimately responsible for the successful execution of assigned technical/IT projects and the management of project teams, ensuring initiatives are completed on schedule and meet business, technical, and quality requirements. Key Responsibilities Manage the complete lifecycle of projects, including initiation, planning, execution, and closure. Ensure project compliance with established project management standards and procedures. Develop detailed program/project plans, including identifying needs, defining tasks, and setting milestones based on scope, budget, and resources. Accountable for the delivery of all work tasks outlined in the program/project plan. Capture and report required program/project management metrics. Ensure all scope changes follow established procedures and are documented. Accountable for managing program/project scope and securing agreement and approval of scope changes from the project sponsor and affected stakeholders. Manage and track program/project progress against the plan. Monitor project milestones and phases to ensure the project stays on schedule, taking corrective actions as needed. Prepare and distribute status reports; schedule and monitor reviews. Plan, organize, prioritize, and manage multiple work efforts across teams. Tailor and baseline all program/project templates. Notify team leads of project timelines, milestones, phases, work requests, and target dates. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including team members, sponsors, vendors, and external partners, to ensure alignment. Analyze and distribute reports on program/project metrics associated with work items. Accountable for the approval and sign-off of the program/project plan from the project sponsor and all affected stakeholders. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and the project sponsor. Serve as the primary point of contact for all program/project-related issues and facilitate their resolution. Coordinate and present proposals to relevant stakeholders as necessary. Identify and manage program/project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and track them to closure. Anticipate and proactively address issues. Develop and facilitate the achievement of program/project service commitments and performance metrics. Ensure tasks provide value, support strategic direction, and meet service commitments, conducting reviews with stakeholders. Accountable for the final program/project management evaluation review with stakeholders for approval upon project completion. Balance workload with program/project team members’ capacity. Plan program/project specific training and orientation needs. Required Skills Project/Program Management experience (8+ years) Experience with full lifecycle implementation projects from requirements definition through implementation (8+ years) 4-year college degree or equivalent technical study Ability to effectively communicate with written and verbal communication to all levels of an organization, from front-line staff to C-level executives Experience managing vendors and vendor-driven projects Experience managing technical/IT projects Proficiency in use of project management software Preferred Skills Contract and/or vendor management Cross-functional collaboration Critical thinking Problem solving Priority setting Change management Business analysis Conflict resolution Government and/or Public Sector project experience Years of Experience: 8+ years Additional Notes Worksite location: State of Ohio.
