LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for an enthusiastic, team-oriented, and goal-driven individual to join our team as a Phlebotomist in Tuscaloosa, AL!

What You'll Do

• Perform phlebotomies and collect blood from donors in accordance with LifeSouth Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Collect blood using automated instruments (once trained).
• Register donors in the LifeSouth computer system (IBBIS).
• Determine donor eligibility through the donor interview and physical assessment process.
• Accurately identify donors throughout every step of the donation process.
• Assist with donor recruitment, tele-recruitment, and appointment rescheduling.
• Convert eligible donors to automated technology (apheresis) when appropriate.
• Deliver exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.

What We Need

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements.
• Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Proficiency with computer software applications.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, including procedure manuals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• CDL holders preferred; additional compensation available.

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. With more than 45 donor centers, 55 bloodmobiles and 2,000 blood drives a month, our LifeSouth team is dedicated to making sure the blood is there when you or your family is in need.

To provide a safe blood supply that meets or exceeds the needs in each community we serve, and to provide a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion related activities.
