Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Area Manager and Senior Project Manager with a focus on Environmental Site Assessment and Remediation, covering our Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas geography. The position is for a dual-role professional responsible for driving team performance while simultaneously contributing to project execution and delivery. Area Managers are responsible for overseeing the performance of a group of major programs and/or projects to assure the achievement of internal and client-facing performance indicators. The preferred location of this position is based in Austin, Dallas, or Houston, TX.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Project Delivery:Drives program performance to meet and/or exceed client satisfaction and KPIsUnderstands and drives business performance and the attainment and exceedance of internal KPIsInteracts with business leadership on governance & risk issues to ensure risk management triggers are identified and addressed proactivelyDevelops and formulates solutions to client problems/issues Participates in project reviews of major program/project dashboards/deep dives to identify issues and improve performanceWorks to drive faster adoption of digital toolsActively integrates international Enterprise Capabilities into project delivery to meet business targets and works with business leadership to manage transitionsContinually develops ideas for program and process improvementIs directly engaged and manages high-quality client projectsPeople:Actively shares people management responsibilities for approximately 50 department staffServes as a focal point for major issue resolution, and provides rapid follow-up to address concernsParticipates in feedback for Project Managers to assure client satisfaction and long-term growthDevelops and implements succession plans for the team and advises on the recruiting of key people to serve client needsAssures project delivery employees are trained and mentored with a long-term goal of training new project managersCoaches project managers and team members on understanding business performance and internal KPIs; implements processes with Project ManagersEvaluates individual performance of project managers within the department.Business Development:Works collaboratively with Client Account Manager(s), Practice Area Leaders, and Business Line Leadership to grow profitable backlog and ensure financial success of their respective client programDevelops budgets that allow for business development portfolio management, tracking & optimizing wins and bookings, and project oversightLeads capture strategies for key pursuits and major projects within the department, ensures those strategies yield high capture rates, and grows the business and relevant technical capabilitiesOperations:Acts as a point of escalation for project issues and makes recommendations to improve performance. This may include addressing project resourcing gaps, supporting technical issues, resolving invoicing and cash collection challenges, addressing subconsultant and vendor concerns, etc.In support of business leadership, drives monthly, quarterly, and annual performance related to financial forecasting (Pro Forma, Path to Plan, Annual Plan)Works alongside business leadership to drive strong working capital performance within the department by actively monitoring cash flow (Unbilled, Billed AR, and DSO)Drives consistent project management practices and procedures in alignment with AECOM Project Delivery System (PDS) and Quality Management System (QMS) requirementsMaintains departmental compliance with West Region Environment Pricing guidance and risk management frameworkEnsures the accuracy of the department’s growth pipeline data and associated Detailed Forecast data and output reports.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:Bachelor Degree in Geology, Environmental Science Engineering, or related field AND (8) eight years of experience in a technical discipline with a proven track record in both project management and business development.US citizen or Permanent Resident. Sponsorship for this role at this time and in the future will not be available. Successful candidate will have to pass a background check and a motor vehicle records check. Preferred Qualifications:Strong knowledge and track record in the environmental / remediation business inclusive of risk-based strategic asset management and advocacy in multiple state jurisdictions working for an Environmental ConsultantMaster's DegreeA registered PE or PG in Texas and/or Louisiana15+ years related experienceA broad range of site characterization and remediation experience across multiple market sectorsExperienced people manager and team builderExceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiencesExcellent active listening skillsAbility to influence others and move toward a common vision or goalFlexible and adaptable; able to work in ambiguous situationsResilient and tenacious with a propensity to persevereMust be a team player and able to work collaboratively with and through othersAcute business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challengesAdditional InformationAt AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
