Assistant Store Manager

VEJA sneakers are produced in high-standard factories in Brazil. Job Description We are currently hiring an Assistant Store Manager to join our Venice retail team. This individual will lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service, while teaching and upholding those service standards with the store sales team. This candidate will need to be well-versed in product knowledge and be able to speak confidently about the VEJA Project. This in-person role will work out of our Venice, CA retail store and will report to the Venice Retail Store Manager or their designee. Role & Responsibilities Drive results and build business acumen through individual ownerships, while supporting Retail Store Manager and team initiatives. Maintain a high level of sales floor awareness always. Direct the flow of customer foot traffic to maximize store space and available sales staff. Ensure execution of customer service standards. Leadership & People Development Teach, coach, and motivate sales team. Exemplify the VEJA ethos and lead by example Deliver constructive feedback in the moment. Develop leadership skills for Key Holder sales team. Lead periodic performance reviews for store employees, in partnership with Retail Store Manager. Store operations Understand and be able to speak confidently the store KPI’s and coach behaviors to the team to impact them positively. Maintain operational standards for back of house for efficient sales floor restock and customer service Daily inventory processing and weekly inventory accuracy practices. Cash handling and banking practices. Maintain visual merchandising standards and execute periodic updates. Schedule and payroll management, in partnership with Retail Store Manager. Work with corporate business partners for product feedback, event executions and day-to-day operations. Requirements: Commitment to the VEJA Project and vision; passionate about fair-trade brands with the ability to speak confidently about the VEJA Project both internally and externally. 1-2 years prior experience as a Retail Assistant Store Manager with a like-minded brand, footwear preferred. Highly organized, adaptable, and solutions-oriented in responding the evolving business Strong dedication to delivering outstanding customer service and fostering a collaborative team environment. Work efficiently and effectively with both remote and in-person teams. Able to work 5 variable days/shifts and approximately 40 hours in a typical work week, maintaining a flexible schedule based on business needs, including evening, weekend and holiday availability. Experience with basic Excel and Outlook functions preferred, e.g. data organization, managing multiple ongoing e-mail chains of communication, etc. This role requires frequent standing for 7-8 hours a day, regular use of ladders, frequent kneeling and crouching, and occasional lifting/moving of 20-25 pounds with assistance. Foreign language skills are a plus (French, Spanish and/or Portuguese). The estimated compensation range for this role is $70,000-$72,000 annually to align with experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package. VEJA North America is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
