Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – Registered Nurse (RN) Full-Time | Sumter Health & Rehabilitation | York, AL Registered Nurse (RN) License Required Competitive Pay Based on Experience Full-Time Nursing Leadership Opportunity Take the Next Step in Nursing Leadership Sumter Health & Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) . As the Assistant Director of Nursing , you'll work closely with the Director of Nursing to provide clinical leadership, support and develop the nursing team, oversee quality resident care, and help ensure nursing operations meet facility, state, and federal standards. Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) Responsibilities Assist the Director of Nursing with the daily operation and management of the nursing department. Provide clinical leadership and support to Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Monitor resident care and help ensure high standards of clinical quality. Conduct clinical rounds and assist with resident assessments and changes in condition. Coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff. Assist with nursing staff orientation, education, and competency development. Support infection prevention, quality assurance, and performance improvement initiatives. Review clinical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with physicians, pharmacy, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate resident care. Assist with admissions, care planning, and clinical operations. Support survey readiness and compliance with state and federal regulations. Help identify opportunities to improve resident outcomes and nursing department performance. Foster a positive, professional, and accountable nursing culture. Assume nursing leadership responsibilities in the Director of Nursing's absence as needed. Qualifications Current Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing – REQUIRED. Current CPR/BLS certification. Previous nursing experience required. Nursing leadership experience as an ADON, Unit Manager, Nursing Supervisor, Staff Development Coordinator, Charge Nurse, or similar role preferred. Skilled nursing, rehabilitation, long-term care, post-acute care, or geriatric nursing experience strongly preferred. Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills. Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing skilled nursing and long-term care. Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively coach, mentor, and develop nursing staff. Working knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR). Dependable, professional, and committed to exceptional resident care.
