Director of Product Management - Semiconductor

The Position

The company is seeking a Director of Product Management to join its team. Reporting within the Gas Purification Business Unit, the Director will develop, manage, and grow market segments within the semiconductor processes areas. This global leadership role will directly manage Product Management teams across regions and oversee all aspects of assigned product lines. As the market leader, the Director will develop strategic plans, manage segment revenue and profitability, and establish product line strategy, including product and technology roadmaps, new product development, and launch collateral.

The Director will serve as a key cross-functional leader, managing daily activities with customers, Operations, Quality, and other functions to ensure customer satisfaction and successful execution of market and product strategies. The successful leader will balance long-term product planning with near-term business needs, including production priorities, allocation, revenue forecasting, capacity planning, pricing, and customer adoption. The role requires a strong understanding of customer needs, competitive positioning, market dynamics, and segment financial performance, while developing Product Management talent across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Lead cross-functional, global teams to execute market and product line strategy, including product definition, commercialization, manufacturing, pricing, product lifecycle, and horizon planning.
• Drive market segment profitability in line with BU P&L targets, including understanding cost structures and managing in-market pricing.
• Build product/technology roadmaps and define market requirements for product development through the stage-gate process to ensure the product pipeline supports future market success.
• Develop a deep understanding of customer needs through voice-of-customer and champions across all levels of the organization, and drive new product sampling and adoption with key customers and partners.
• Align portfolio management to secure and align resources with key product/market priorities, while making critical decisions and supporting Operations on production priorities and allocation as necessary.
• Understand and develop competitive market positioning and market share analysis for assigned markets.
• Maintain and update revenue forecasts in alignment with Sales and Operations to drive long-term capacity planning.
• Manage and train successful Product Managers in support of individual market segment goals.

The company seeks an accomplished product management leader with a strong understanding of semiconductor businesses and processes and a demonstrated foundation in Product Management principles. The successful candidate will have a proven track record leading cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, delivering growth in critical product lines, managing competing priorities, and driving leadership across cross-functional teams, along with strong portfolio and P&L management capabilities and an understanding of key financial metrics that drive broader business and portfolio performance.

The ideal candidate will understand Gas Purification fundamentals, semiconductor market requirements, and competitors. This person will be a strategic and collaborative leader capable of leading broad and complex assignments in support of business goals while developing and managing Product Management talent. This individual will possess excellent people management and communication skills, including developing employees, delegating effectively, providing feedback, promoting teamwork, and managing performance.

Summary of Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; Master’s degree and/or MBA preferred. 
• Understanding of semiconductor businesses and processes, with a strong foundation in Product Management principles. 
• Successful track record leading cross-functional and cross-cultural teams, delivering growth in critical product lines, and managing multiple competing priorities.
• Skilled in portfolio and P&L management, with an understanding of key financial metrics that drive broader business and portfolio performance. 
• Ability to lead broad and complex assignments in support of business goals.
• Excellent people management and communication skills, including development, delegation, providing feedback, promoting teamwork, and performance management; strong English-language, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel globally up to 20% of the time to support internal developments and customer opportunity management, with regular participation in global conference calls outside of normal working hours.
