MRI Technologist - Part-Time (.60 FTE), Rotating shifts (12HR)

Overview This position performs a variety of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures on patients using high field strength magnets and related equipment. Duties include operating MRI scanners, obtaining high‑quality images, and ensuring patient safety. The technologist works under the guidance of radiologists and may train radiology residents or other staff on MRI procedures and protocols. Responsibilities Assist in training radiology students, house staff, or other personnel on MRI procedures, protocols, equipment, and safety. Bill all MRI procedures performed and maintain required paperwork. Obtain quality images for medical diagnosis by performing MRI examinations as directed by a physician, using proper technical factors and scanning techniques. Stay current on all MRI scanning protocols. Photograph and develop film in accordance with department standards. Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequences, and label appropriately. Prepare patients for MRI exams: explain procedures, ensure screening forms are completed, safely transfer patients to the scanner, position patients correctly, and assist them during the exam, completing exams within required timeframes. Troubleshoot equipment problems and, when necessary, report issues to appropriate personnel for repair. Utilize ancillary equipment appropriately (PACS system, laser camera, MedRad power injector, IDXRad, and Invivo monitor). Education & Qualifications Completion of an accredited Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program or a Radiologic Technology program. One (1) year of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of individuals. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to perform general and specialized radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures to meet departmental quality standards. Ability to troubleshoot, document, and communicate equipment issues. Ability to work effectively as a team player. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area. Knowledge of MRI physics, physiology, structural and organ anatomy, and cross‑sectional anatomy. Knowledge of MRI techniques, methods, and equipment. Knowledge of medical equipment, instruments, and related functionalities. Knowledge of patient positioning methods for radiographic and MRI procedures. Knowledge of image processing and development principles applicable to diagnostic imaging. Knowledge of safety principles and procedures related to ultrasound procedures and equipment. Licenses & Certifications BLS – Basic Life Support required. One of the following certifications: ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists), ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists), or CRT (California Certified Radiology Tech). Base Pay Scale Generally starting at $69.10 – $77.81 per hour.
