Job Title: 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician (Electrical) Job Description

The 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician (Electrical) plays a key role in maintaining and repairing industrial, food-grade manufacturing equipment in a clean, temperature-controlled facility. This position focuses on electrical troubleshooting, PLC systems, and mechanical components such as hydraulics and pneumatics, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production and utility systems across the plant.

• Perform maintenance and repairs on industrial and food-grade equipment, including case packers, palletizers, process systems, ammonia refrigeration equipment, high-pressure boilers, air compressors, and other building utilities.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues on motors, sensors, hydraulics, pneumatics, switches, photo eyes, variable frequency drives (VFDs), low-voltage and high-voltage circuits.
• Maintain and repair equipment such as conveyors, gearboxes, palletizers, packers, and pumps to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and ladder logic diagrams to troubleshoot and repair equipment accurately.
• Troubleshoot and work with a variety of PLC platforms, including Siemens and Rockwell, performing ladder logic diagnostics and repairs as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks on industrial equipment to extend asset life and reduce unplanned breakdowns.
• Install, adjust, and align electrical and mechanical components on production and utility equipment as required.
• Collaborate closely with a team of maintenance technicians across multiple shifts, sharing information and supporting colleagues to resolve complex issues.
• Report daily activities, equipment status, and maintenance needs to the maintenance manager for the respective shift.
• Participate in training on ammonia refrigeration systems if not already certified, and apply that knowledge to maintain and troubleshoot refrigeration equipment.
• Apply safe work practices when working with 480V three-phase power and other electrical systems, adhering to all plant safety and food safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying recurring issues and recommending long-term corrective actions.
• Assist with HVAC and boiler-related maintenance and troubleshooting when needed.
• Ensure all work is completed in compliance with food manufacturing and FDA-related standards where applicable.

• Industrial maintenance background with at least 6+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong electrical maintenance experience, including working with 480V three-phase power systems.
• Hands-on PLC experience, including ladder logic troubleshooting and repairs on platforms such as Siemens and Rockwell.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and PLC control diagrams.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and repairing motors, including breakdown analysis and corrective actions.
• Solid knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair of related components.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and maintenance repairs on industrial equipment.
• Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot conveyors, motors, gearboxes, and other mechanical systems.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting skills across low-voltage and high-voltage circuits.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a large maintenance team, demonstrating a collaborative and supportive attitude.
• Capability to work second or third shift with a rotating schedule and extended hours as required by the role.
• Willingness and ability to pass a nicotine test in line with company policy.

• FDA or food manufacturing background is a significant plus.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is beneficial; training will be provided if not already certified.
• HVAC and/or boiler experience is considered a plus.
• Familiarity with air compressors, high-pressure boilers, and building utilities in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in a clean, regulated production environment, particularly in dairy or other food-grade operations.
• Comfort working with a variety of PLC brands and programming environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a curious, innovative mindset toward maintenance and reliability.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a high-growth, stable manufacturing operation.

This role is based in a very clean, safe, and temperature-controlled food manufacturing facility that emphasizes stability and continuous growth. The maintenance team consists of approximately 50 employees across three shifts, fostering a collaborative and well-supported environment. The position is primarily on 2nd shift, typically 2:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. on a four 10-hour day schedule, with flexibility and shift premiums after 5:30 p.m. There is also an opening on 3rd shift, generally 9:00–10:00 p.m. to 7:30–8:00 a.m., also on a flexible four 10-hour day schedule. The weekly schedule alternates between Sunday–Wednesday one week and Monday–Wednesday plus Saturday the next, then repeats. Employees work in a modern food manufacturing plant with advanced industrial equipment, including conveyors, palletizers, packers, pumps, ammonia refrigeration systems, high-pressure boilers, air compressors, and PLC-controlled process systems. The environment is nicotine-free, and the company maintains strict cleanliness and safety standards consistent with food-grade operations.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wooster, OH.

The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $80000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
