Senior Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical design and delivery for industrial equipment and piping systems. The role focuses on developing robust mechanical solutions, performing FEA and detailed mechanical design, overseeing fabrication and installation, and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in piping design and mechanical systems with hands-on fabrication experience and proven leadership in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design activities for industrial equipment and piping systems, from concept through detailed design and production support.
• Perform FEA and stress analysis to validate designs, recommend design improvements, and ensure safety and reliability.
• Develop detailed mechanical drawings, BOMs, and specifications using CAD tools; review and approve vendor drawings and submittals.
• Design piping systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, B31.3), including routing, supports, and flexibility analysis.
• Collaborate with process, civil, electrical, and instrumentation teams to integrate mechanical systems into overall project designs.
• Provide fabrication and shop support, including review of welding procedures, fabrication drawings, and quality checks during shop tests and inspections.
• Support procurement and vendor selection; evaluate vendor proposals, lead technical negotiations, and manage supply chain issues for mechanical components.
• Lead installation, commissioning, and field troubleshooting activities to resolve mechanical issues and ensure successful startup.
• Mentor and coach junior engineers and designers; provide technical guidance and drive continuous improvement in engineering practices and standards.
• Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, cost, and schedule targets while maintaining compliance with company and industry regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; Masters degree preferred.
• Minimum 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial environments, with demonstrated experience in fabrication and piping design.
• Proven experience performing FEA and stress analysis using industry tools (e.g., ANSYS, Nastran) and interpreting results to inform design decisions.
• Strong mechanical design skills with proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor) and experience producing detailed drawings and BOMs.
• Working knowledge of piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, etc.) and piping design practices including support and flexibility analysis.
• Hands-on fabrication experience and familiarity with welding codes (AWS), shop practices, and quality control during manufacturing.
• Experience with procurement, vendor management, and technical evaluation of supplier deliverables.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project leadership skills; experience leading multidisciplinary teams and mentoring staff.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to fabrication shops and project sites as required.
