Forest Soil Fieldwork Temporary Technician The Markewitz Forest Soils and Water laboratory is seeking a temporary technical paraprofessional to assist with fieldwork supporting a scientific research effort. The position involves traveling to South and Central Georgia to collect plant material and soils over the course of one week of fieldwork. Key Responsibilities Collect data/samples in the field (95% of time). Organize and process samples upon return to the laboratory (5% of time). Travel to South and Central Georgia; conduct overnight trips as part of a fieldwork team. Work outdoors in cold and potentially inclement weather. Carry materials up to 30 lbs over short distances and perform moderate physical labor. Qualifications Undergraduate coursework in forestry, soil science, agronomy, ecology, or related fields. Preferred experience collecting data or samples for research or laboratory work in forest environments. Ability to work outdoors in cold and potentially inclement weather. Willingness to travel overnight for 3–4 days as part of a team. Physical stamina to bend, stand repeatedly, and carry up to 30 lbs for a ½ mile.
