Staff Research Assistant

Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary To assist Dr. Bismarck Odei with his research. Responsibilities Compile data from a variety of sources including interviews, literature, medical, and genealogical records and enter information into the department’s computer system. Assist PI’s, Research Associate’s, Post‑doctoral fellows, and others in preparing manuscripts and presentation materials by creating slides, charts, graphs, and handouts. Maintain up‑to‑date files and records of research data. Search reference works, documents, statistical records, etc. and evaluate the applicability of collected data to research subjects. Draft correspondence to answer inquiries and respond to requests from outside agencies about specific projects. Edit research papers, project reports, and publication materials; arrange printing and graphic art requirements for printed materials. Maintain an internal library of project information resources and collected data. Perform quality control through path audits to resolve discrepancies and overlaps with data. Schedule appointments, visits, and meetings. Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required Nearly continuously: Office environment. Minimum Qualifications One year research experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Demonstrated organizational and communication skills. Commitment to provide excellent customer service. An understanding of research protocols and procedures preferred.
