Part Time Sales Associate

Gift Shop PositionProvides service in the gift shop related to merchandising, inventory control, sales, pricing, and customer service.Minimum QualificationsEducation, Certification, and/or Licensure:1. High school diploma or equivalentExperience:1. Six months' retail experiencePreferred QualificationsEducation, Certification, and/or Licensure:1. Experience in a retail setting, involving merchandising, and inventoryCore Duties and Responsibilities1. Provides customer service and sales assistance.2. Welcomes customers as they enter the shop, offering assistance in a friendly and positive manner.3. Establishes customer relationships, calling them by name, in order to develop and maintain customer profiles.4. Makes every effort to serve the customer's needs by listening to their requests, suggesting merchandise and follow-through with closing the sale.5. Gift-wraps items upon request in a timely manner.6. Provides customer service and gift shop coverage in the absence of other paid staff or volunteers.7. Assists with merchandising for the gift shop.8. Maintains merchandise levels within various classifications. Works with staff to assure merchandise is presented in the best possible manner through attractive visual merchandising.9. Constantly rotates merchandise to assure freshness and cleanliness of displays.10. Maintains working knowledge of rotating inventory and collectibles. Maintains a neat and pleasant atmosphere of the gift shop.11. Maintains clean counter space and a clean and clutter-free wall case.12. Fixtures are dust-free and clutter-free. Walkways are clear and vacuumed. Ensure overall cleanliness.13. Assists with buying products within limited classifications of the gift shop.14. Maintains candy, balloons, and sundry inventory levels through actual ordering and informing the manager of needs.15. Works with customers on special orders and requests, maintains special order files and sales.16. Places orders for flowers and specialized merchandise as scheduled.17. Assists with gift shop operations.18. Ensures the gift shop is open and ready for business on time. Responsible for the timely closing of the gift shop, ensuring both the gift shop and volunteer services office are locked and secure.19.
