Position Overview: Speech and Language Pathologist: Hours/Day: 1.0 FTE Compensation/benefits: Burnsville Education Association

Primary Responsibilities: Provide speech/language therapy and conduct evaluations and re-evaluations.

Provides speech and language therapy to children from birth to 21 year old students by performing the following duties:

• Plans, organizes, and conducts therapy sessions to help students achieve objectives stated on their Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Individual Family Support Plan (IFSP). This is done on an individual basis as well as in a classroom setting.
• Conducts and documents full initial and 3-year speech-language evaluations.
• Develops and maintains IEPs and IFSPs by direct consultation with parents, teachers, and staff.
• Participates and/or facilitates Child Study Team meetings, initial staffing, evaluation results reporting, annual and initial IEP meetings, general team functioning; coordinates services with Special Education and other staff.
• Maintains records, IEP reviews, conference logs, due process forms, third party billing, and any paperwork specific to speech/language area.
• Conducts home visits encompassing Special education support for students in Early Childhood Special Education.
• Participates in professional organizations.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibility aside from voluntary consent to supervise student teachers in speech or someone completing their clinical fellowship year.

Education and/or Experience: Master's degree in Speech/Language Pathology.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from parents, teachers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: MN teaching license in Communication Disorders Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA
