Our Organization

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at our organization is seeking applications for a full-time academic faculty role in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery within our medical group. The ideal candidate will engage in clinical practice, education, research, and service both within the department and throughout the health system. This position presents an exciting opportunity to collaborate in an academic setting, contributing to the training of future Oral & Maxillofacial surgeons.

We partner with millions on their health journeys across Michigan and globally, offering a comprehensive range of services—from primary and preventive care to specialized and complex treatments, health insurance, home health services, virtual care, pharmacy, eye care, and other healthcare retail options. With the integration of former Ascension locations in southeast Michigan and Flint, our care is accessible through 13 hospitals and numerous outpatient facilities. Based in Detroit, we are recognized as one of the leading academic medical centers in the nation, spearheading the Future of Health: Detroit initiative, a $3 billion investment centered around a reimagined academic healthcare campus.

Our organization boasts extensive Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Training programs in collaboration with Michigan State University School of Human Medicine, Wayne State University School of Medicine, and the University of Detroit Mercy Dental School. We are expanding our academic faculty to enhance our mission of clinical service, education, and research.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons interested in a full-time academic role should be prepared for a comprehensive hospital-based practice, including regular on-call duties. New faculty members will have the chance to work in nationally and internationally recognized tertiary care and Level I trauma centers, as well as state-of-the-art outpatient facilities.

New faculty will also be eligible for academic appointments and promotions through the affiliated medical schools.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

• Be a skilled surgeon with a focus on full-scope OMFS practice.
• Have a passion for resident education.
• Be motivated to engage in specialty-related scholarly activities.
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills necessary for interacting with residents, clinical leadership, and administrative staff.
• Have completed a CODA/CDAC accredited residency in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Applicants for this position must be board eligible and certified within three years of appointment by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons (ABOMS) and must obtain an unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Michigan.
