The Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Washington invites applications for two (2) faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 2027. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month academic appointment (3-year term, renewable at the rank of Assistant Professor) beginning July 2027.
The selected candidates will be proposed for appointment to the full-time faculty at the University of Washington as an Assistant, Associate, or full Professor without tenure by reason of funding on the regular track (either Clinician-Teacher or Clinician-Scientist), with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. Academic appointments at the University of Washington will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and academic rank. Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate or Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor range: $27,917 - $33,334 per month ($335,004 - $400,008 annually), Associate Professor range: $33,334 - $41,667 per month ($400,008 - $500,004 annually), Professor range: $35,834 - $50,000 per month ($430,008 - $600,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.
Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive via the UW Physicians practice plan.

The successful candidate will be expected to primarily be in a clinical position with protected time for scholarly activity. The disease site specialization will be determined based upon the needs of the department, the interests of the candidate and as approved by the Chair. The Department of Radiation Oncology has an established mentorship program that supports junior faculty and others in professional development. The successful candidate will be expected to advance the department's mission of clinical care, research, education, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). Faculty in the Department of Radiation Oncology practice at several of our partner institutions: Fred Hutch Cancer Center (which includes the Proton Center, South Lake Union Cancer Clinic, Peninsula/Poulsbo Cancer Center and FHCC Northwest Hospital), University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle Children's Hospital, Harborview Medical Center and VA Puget Sound. The department provides an extensive and outstanding array of radiation oncology modalities for cancer patients, including proton therapy, neutron therapy, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, LDR and HDR brachytherapy, IORT, intravascular brachytherapy, and SBRT.
All University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.
Department Overview:
UW Medicine and its partner institutions (UWMC, Fred Hutch Cancer Center including its Proton Center, Seattle Children's Hospital, VA Puget Sound, Harborview Hospital) provide an extensive and outstanding array of radiation oncology modalities for cancer patients. The Department of Radiation Oncology treats over 3,500 patients annually from a multi-state region covering over 25% of the U.S. geographic area. The University of Washington has the only Radiation Oncology department in North America that has clinical particle beam delivery systems for both proton and neutron therapy. Our clinical approach is collaborative with numerous multidisciplinary clinics, tumor boards and disease specific chart rounds. We are a part of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center and have strong translational and clinical research collaborations. The Department has 40 physicians, 12 advanced practice providers, 34 physicists, and 4 research faculty. Educational opportunities in our residency programs, fellowship programs and post-doctoral fellowships abound. A strong interest and commitment to research and education is expected, as well as strong collaboration with the multidisciplinary clinical teams.

Amenities include restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, cinema, live theater, live music, art, pop culture, a foodie scene, and urban homesteading. Seattle is the gateway to the great outdoors with hiking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, sailing, kayaking, fishing, and whale watching within an hour of the city. Beyond the mountains to the west, there is the Pacific Ocean and, to the east, deserts, fruit, and wine country. Seattle is one of the fastest-growing cities with significant industries in biotechnology, computer technology and communication, global health, and e-commerce. The variety of neighborhoods within Seattle and surrounding areas offer a diversity of environments for families and single adults to call home, connected by bike commuting trails and a rapidly growing public transportation system.
Qualifications
Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications: an MD or DO (or foreign equivalent), medical licensure in the state of Washington and Board Eligibility or Certification in Radiation Oncology with the American Board of Radiology (ABR) (or foreign equivalent).
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all 3 steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
