Our client is dedicated to delivering top-notch products and services, and they are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Buyer to join their team. Position Overview As a Senior Buyer, you will step into a pivotal role, responsible for spearheading the purchasing functions within the automotive business unit. Your core responsibilities will encompass the direct procurement of products and services, including raw casting and machining services, internal company-related procurement requirements, MRO contracts, tooling, equipment, warehouses, value-add services, maintenance service agreements, leases, and all other procurement-related activities essential for supporting the North American business unit. Your strategic prowess will shine as you create and implement company-wide strategies for purchasing and inventory control. Building positive rapport with customers, internal team members, and vendors will be instrumental in ensuring an effective flow of communication that aligns with the company's objectives. You will also be tasked with issuing quote requests and skillfully negotiating potential strategies. Keeping abreast of market changes, supplier contracts, and import/export compliance is paramount to excel in this role. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing purchase order documentation, ensuring pricing alignment with suppliers, and overseeing compliance with contractual agreements and services provided. Secondary Job Functions Your expertise will extend beyond purchasing as you provide general assistance to the sales department as needed. Staying at the forefront of industry best practices and advancements, you will play a pivotal role in keeping the operations team and management informed. Coordinating product shipments between factory/supplier/warehouse and customers will be another facet of your role. Your proactive nature will shine as you suggest process improvements and actively participate in special projects. You will compile and prepare information, reports, and presentation materials, contributing to the organization's overall success. The maintenance of procedure manuals will be a key part of ensuring efficient operations. Experience & Education To thrive in this role, you should hold a Bachelor’s degree in purchasing management, inventory control, business management, supply chain, or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of related purchasing experience in a manufacturing work environment is essential. Direct experience in automotive production purchasing/supply chain is highly desired. Your knowledge of the sourcing process is a valuable asset. Strong customer service skills and a proven track record in problem-solving are crucial.
