Registered Nurse - 6th Floor Med/Surg Telemetry - Full Time 12 Hour Night Shift (Union)

Role Overview As an integral member of the patient care team, the Registered Nurse supports the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the patient care team to provide safety, recovery, and comfort for patients by implementing the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, plan of care, education plan, implementation of interventions, evaluation, and plan revision). The RN also provides education and advocacy while practicing in compliance with regulatory requirements including CMS Conditions of Participation, Title 22, CDPH regulations, and DNV‑GL/NIAHO standards. Responsibilities Supports department manager and director in quality improvement and growth of unit services; collaborates with co‑workers and other departments; manages efficient services with meaningful outcomes. Decision‑Making Authority Patient care within scope of practice Patient acuity based on classification method Full extent of legal scope of practice based on education, training, and competency Judgment and decision on patient care based on assessments Accountable for a healing environment, safe passage of patients, prevention of harm, patient education, and reporting of abnormal findings Executive Functions Planning: Assists charge nurse with planning delivery of patient care for the shift; contributes to overall unit planning and improvement Directing: Precepts new hires, validates competency, and introduces new procedures; teaches nursing students Delegating: Delegates to other RNs, LVNs, CNAs as indicated Coordinating: Coordinates assigned team and communicates expectations to staff regarding interventions and reporting Improvement: Reports improvement opportunities, communicates through chain of command, and addresses unusual events Other Duties: As assigned Education and Experience Graduation from Registered Nurse Program BSN desired; if not upon hire, must obtain within 5 years (preferred) 1 year clinical experience in an acute care setting preferred; experience in treating orthopaedic and stroke populations preferred Specialized Nursing Programs Cardiac Cath Lab Nurses 1 year nursing experience in an acute care setting (ICU, step‑down, or ER) preferred 1+ year IR, EP, or Cardiac Cath Lab experience preferred 6th Floor Med/Surg Employees Two years’ experience with orthopaedic and medical‑surgical nursing preferred Certification in medical‑surgical, orthopaedic or other specialty preferred Required License / Certification California Registered Nurse License Certification in clinical specialty or management desired Additional certifications: Surgery: BLS, ACLS PACU/SDS/GI Lab: BLS, ACLS, PALS Cath Lab: BLS, ACLS ED: BLS, ACLS, PALS, AB508 (within 30 days of hire), NIHSS (within 30 days of hire), NRP (within 6 months of hire), ENPC (within 12 months of hire) Geropsych: BLS, AB508 (within 30 days of hire) ICU/5S, 4th Telemetry, 6th Med Surg and Float Pool: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (within 30 days of hire) BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP must be AHA certified All certifications must be active effective date of hire/transfer unless otherwise indicated Compensation The hourly rate range for this position is $47.58 to $76.68. #J-18808-Ljbffr Keck Medicine of USC
