Adjunct Faculty, Nursing Clinical

Adjunct instructor needed to teach Nursing Clinical classes using Cecil College Master Syllabus.

The term "Adjunct" has a very specific meaning. An Adjunct Faculty is a contract employee hired to teach specific course(s) during an academic term on a part-time basis. An Adjunct Faculty member is not eligible for benefits.

Details:

For a fiscal year (July 1 through June 30), the Adjunct Faculty Member shall serve as a part-time employee of the College.

Adjunct Faculty may teach no more than 26 credit hours per fiscal year.

Adjunct faculty will receive a master adjunct contract, as well as course specific contract. Each course specific contract shall list: 1) the Adjunct Faculty members name, employee number, address and phone number; and 2) the course number, course title, number of credit hours, start date, end date, account code and the payment amount.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

As an instructor, the Adjunct Faculty member's duties are to:

• Convey the course material so that students canattainthe instructionalobjectivesof the course.
• If requested to do so by the Department Chairperson, complete acourseassessment for courses taught under the terms of this contract.
• Ensure that all course material is available tostudentsthe first day of class via Cecil College’s Learning Management system.
• Meet program specific requirements for employment and supervision of students in any externship or capstone course.
• Hold classes for the full amount of time specified. Notify the AcademicAffairsOffice if there is an urgent reason to miss class.
• Bereasonably accessibleto students via email or in person, return students’ assignmentsin a timely manner.
• Hold office hours before or after class, a minimum of 30 minutes per week.Advisingmodality should match teaching modality
• Facilitate quality learning experiences for students.
• Develop and implement classroom lesson plans and learning activities, including but not limitedto;lectures, videos, demonstrations, and role-play.
• Teach specific hours or contact hours per week as assigned.
• Assistwith student remediation.
• Use the College’s Academic Monitoring and Learning Management System to document attendance and grades per Cecil College procedures. Submit grades and all otherendof the semester documentationin a timely manner.
• Use the College email account assigned to the member shall be used forCollegecommunications and shall check that accounton a daily basis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing, master’s degreepreferred.
• Must havecurrent, unencumbered RN license.
• A minimum of five full-time years working as a registered nurse in the content area. Teaching and simulation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of equipment and functions used in clinical settings
• Strong communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving skills.
• Current knowledge and skill in the use of information and computer technology (e.g., word processing, e-mail, database) or proven ability to learn these skills.
• Able to work with students with special needs based on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
• Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Physical Demands: This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools.Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing arerequiredoccasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving
